1541 hydraulic filter issue
Has anyone else had problems changing the hydraulic filter? My filter got damaged, and I'm in the process of replacing it. When I went to screw the new filter on, instead of the filter screwing onto the stud, the stud screwed into the transaxle housing. I ended up draining the fluid (which I hadn't intended to do, as I just changed the fluid about 20 hrs ago. I'm currently waiting for the fluid to stop dripping enough so I can try to secure the stud in the housing with Locktite. We're supposed to have more snow on the way, and I need my tractor to clear the yard.

NO.... I have not had that problem. IIRC correctly, that fitting that the filter screws onto is like a Pipe Nipple and has threads from both ends. That nipple should "bottom" out into the housing. See attachment..... |
The fitting on mine looks just like yours...it screwed into the housing till only about 4 threads were exposed.

Maybe the internal threads in the housing are tapped too deep. Take a closer look and let us know.
