more rear end/tranny questions

ok ive pin pointed the noise my 100 is makeing. its the big gear in the front of the rear (the one the drive shaft gear runs with) in one spot theres probably like 6 teeth that must be a little out of wack because theirs resistance when the two gears meet there. so the question is can i just take the bolt out of the middle of that gear and it pops right off without other stuff falling apart inside? thanks

Check the service manual, but I'm pretty sure you can remove that reduction gear after draining the rear and removing the cover.
