Those have a Briggs Vangaurd and I think I would rather have a Kohler engine but, I don't know much about the Briggs. I will say that a lot of people don't like the cyclops tractors because of the wiring problems and paint issues but they are the most comfortable tractors made. I have a 1541 with a high vacuum deck and it cuts better than any other deck I have. The plastic hood and sides are also another problem. Thats my :TwoCents:.

I have a 1440 and I love it.I bought mine from a guy that just wanted to get rid of it rather than replace the starter.you'll love how smooth they run and they do cut grass nice...I dont have a problem at all with the Briggs Vangaurd its made by Daihatsu and mine purrs like a kitten.Hope this helps you out.

The Briggs Vanguard is the best engine ever made. Great sounding, tough as nails, and never bogg down. As you can see, I love mine! The plastic grille is really the only bad thing about these tractors. Wiring issues usually deal with the ignition switch burning out, the connectors becoming corroded, and the voltage regulator going bad on the Vanguards. But I love mine and wouldnt trade it for anything. $900 is a good deal for a good running, good looking 1641.
