what is it?

not sure if the pic attached, but if it did what is the switch for its on my 149 cub. there was what looked like a plug that should have been plugged into it, of course the plug had a jumper in it so I checked the switch, at least what I think is a switch with my meter it doesn't seem to do anything, so any idea?

It's the brake pedal safety switch.

thats a safety starting switch. the long sheet metal paddle is attached to brake pedal. They frequently fail, and rarely are replaced. Very few still have that sheet metal paddle still.

If I am seeing the picture like I think I am it is a saftey switch, if working correct you can't start the motor without the brake pedal pushed in. The little lever is attached to your brake pedal, once the brake is pushed in the lever pushes the button on the switch and allows the engine to start.

thx, At least now i know why it had a jumper wire in place. not that its right but at least it makes some since why it had been done!
