Neet 72 I got today
 

Hi all

I bought a 72 today. It's built in 1969. Has some neet options on it. It has a hydro lift with sleve hitch. I always wanted a Cub Cadet with a hydro lift. Another option that has me puzzled is its rear wheels are bolted to cast plates which are bolted to the rear hubs. Wheel spacers or was this onetime duel rear wheels? Anyone have a picture of how the duel rear wheel set up looks and goes together?

Paint is good just dirty so I won't paint this one just clean it up. Clutch looked good. Needs a clutch pedal return spring. Also needs a round gas tank and some tires plus Brinely tools to go behind it.

If the spacers on the rear wheels are for duel rear wheels how hard are the rest to find?

Michael sounds like a good tractor. If the spacers are on there already then all you need is a matching set of tires.

Michael that's not dual wheel spacers, not sure what they are going to let someone else that knows more answer that question.

You have a spring assist and the hydro lift. I would pull the spring assist and use the hydro lift. You don't need both. A good wash and try and find out where it's leaking oil at and you can start your adventure. Nice looking tractor!

Well, first off, sweet 72:beerchug: The rear wheels on your 72 are from a JD or other brand tractor, the valve stem is on the inside of the rim which is not Cub Cadet. Looks like you've got plenty of clearance on the inside of the wheel to frame, so maybe custom spacers just to widen the rear track:bigthink:

Thanks all!!

I was shown a picture of an Original with a Danco FEL. It has simular spacers. They werent quite the same as mine. Mine are two piece where as the one on the Original was one piece. I guess they were used to widen the rear wheelbase. I'll keep them but won't put them back on. They are Federal Yellow. You are right the rear wheels are off a John Deere. I'll get some 6 by 12s to put on it.

I need to degreese and wash it. I hope the oil on it is nothing major. Might need an engine rebuild. I'll see how it runs when I get the tank on it. It's original tank had the piece the fuel bowl screwed to come unsordered. I'll take it to a radiator shop and see if they can fix it.

I'm not sure why it had spring assist with hydrolic lift. They are original two the tractor. I may take the spring assist off and use it on my 105. I take it its a Cub Cadet made spring assist. I have a Brinley made spring assist on another tractor and it's different than this one.

What oil does the hydrolic lift take?

Have to show me some pictures of Cub Cadets with hydrolic lifts!

First off,nice find!!!Thats a nice 72!!:beerchug: For the hydro lift i find cub cadet Hytrans(non synthetic) is best,or you can use SAE 10-W from what the manual says,and be sure it has oil it it before you start it up.

Once you give your 72 a bath ,you will find the leaks most likely in the rear wheel seals,and you will find it is a purdy tractor....
