When I took mine apart I found an online service manual.

If I remember correctly it addresses this issue in it.
on mine there were 2 short pins stacked on top of each other in each side. When looking down at the assembly, with the swash plate straight (horizontally), you should be able to pound the "top" pin until the "bottom" pin is loose enough to get out by tipping the swash plate. Then the top pin will be centered in the trunnion shaft. Be careful not to pound the pins to far as it will jam against the case, making it really hard to get the first pin out.
