Default Installation

I finally got to work on my hitch again. I read over the instructions several times and found there were many differences between the factory set up and Xtremes. A lot of pieces and steps are eliminated.First was setting up the backplate and the lift rod. This follows the factory directions

Second is removing the clevis pin on the hydrolic lift. Again this follows the factory instructions just be aware the Xtreme includes a longer clevis to put back in. I had some difficulty cutting the cotter pin due to the lines being in the way

Third I test fitted the back plate and lift arm and re-installed the factory adjustment rod. The adjust rod will hit the lift arms if it is turned a certain way. Once I was satisfied with the fit which is very tight I removed the 2 bolts in the lower rear end housing. This process followed the factory instruction but Xtreme has the straps built into the backing plate. Make sure you have a good catch pan as fluild will shoot out of the bolt holes but with a little planning you can make the install with minimal fluid loss.
