Most of the JD blocks are wide base, IIRC, so they would not fit in a NF without mods.
Have you tried putting in a want ad for a rebuildable correct block? I've heard some of the parts guys have been scrapping 10 hp blocks due to lack of demand. I'm sure you could find a reasonably-priced one if you tried.
