The pin goes into the hole in the center of the crank to locate the adapter. These are numbers from a Cub 2160 with a 16HP Briggs. Think they run under $40.00 Looks like it's the same numbers they use for the Kohlers. The bolts holes are sloted so my guess is it will fit both engines hence the locating pin to center it.

That's not going to work on a gear drive. A custom adapter will be required.
