The fitting is a 1/8" pipe to 1/4" hose fitting to a hose to the small gas filter to some more hose, up and over the seat support and zip tied to the fill tube. It stays open all the time. The newer hydros have a vent on the top of the case. Filter keeps the dirt out. Easy and cheap.
