Can't leave nuthin alone!!

I got looking at the 1715 and it had a pretty big pulley on the transaxle. It also couldn't catch a turtle running on marbles,it was so slow. We seldom used lower than high gear. Well I got some good guys at the local parts store and we got talkin pulley sizes. We went from an eight inch pulley to a five inch pulley and that is about right. Low is still to low to mow in except for really tall grass but the other gears really make up for it. The only issue is finding the right size belt for it now. An 86 inch is a little tight but an 87 inch is too loose, slips a lot. Even with the original pulley and belt, the tractor always wanted to creep. Even if the belt was VERY loose. Since it had been sitting foR so long, I figured that the pulley might just need cleaned up with more use. It seems to be getting better but if it doesn't improve, Ill see if I can get an 86.5 inch belt.

I also found out that my new brake pad broke. I had the metal piece behind it but apparently, it wasn't thick enough and it bent, breaking the pad. I cut down a new Brake pad from a ford truck that we don't own anymore. The lining was riveted, so I drilled the rivets and sawed a small piece to fit. I made it a little wider too. We'll see how that works.

If the belt stops grabbing on the front pulley, it'll be quite a nice tractor!
