1541 has an M series Kohler that is out of production and is very pricey to get parts for. It’s rated as 15 HP but it’s the same engine as the 18HP version, just a numbers game. The 1641 has a Briggs 16HP Vanguard. All other things being equal I’d go for the 1641. Just my 2 cents.
