To know for sure if that is a 169 or not is by the serial number tag which on 169's would be on the left hand side of the frame by the clutch/neutral pedal. I don't see a tag. I also see the left hand side panel where the hour meter would be located is gone. Mufflers and air cleaners can be replaced if worn or lost. Count the headbolts and fins. Could be a 16 horse. But not being able to verify with the serial number would make it hard to prove it's a real 169 and could hurt resale in the future if you'd ever decide to sell..........
Ask to seller if he can verify the serial number or has the tag somewhere.
Under edit:
Look to see if the serial number is located on the rear end running vertically. If this is the case, run don't walk. It would be a fake 169. All 169's have the serial number tag on the left side frame. Can't tell from the pic if the tags there (painted over) or missing. Keep us posted on what ya find out.
