The "core" I ended up buying was a Kohler generator, from an RV. It was not a "running" replacement, but I paid $85.00 for it, and with the help of the guy's on here, I think it is going to be a real solid replacement.

I guess my point is, they used these engines in a lot of different applications. I stopped putting "Cub Cadet" in the search engine on CL, and just started using "Kohler". Then just weed through the plumbing stuff

Having said all that, There is a local mom and pop lawn and garden store near me, they have owned it forever, they deal in Wheel Horse and Toro, no Cubs.

But I like them, good people, when mine let go, I was in there picking up some chainsaw blades. The owner waited on me, small talk lead to me asking if he had any old rebuild able KTs in the back. He smiled and said no, I told him I blew up mine in my 782.

He suggested a re-power kit using a Vanguard motor. I told him I knew that SEW offered one, but it just seemed wrong to put a briggs in my old Cub. He said that the vangaurd was not really a briggs, but just had their name on it. He said it was a great motor, and he would go that route.

Then he paused for a minute and told me he had an old Cub, with a KT in it, that he loved that tractor, he understood why I wanted to keep one in mine.

Thanks for the info I thought I had to stay with cub so I was sure I was getting correct output shaft size: bigthink:
