Today's gas goes bad very quickly. I highly suggest adding Starbrite StarTron to all your gas that sits in a container. I also add a few ounces of MMO ( Marvel Mystery Oil ) to 5 gallons of gas for all my small engines.
Try some fresh gas and see if that helps.
