I agree but MTD is at least American made. They are for the most part fine for very light use. Should be better though!
One thing I'll say is my 1450 and my new to me 782, I'm always breaking belts. My 1450 would go through 2-3 deck belts a year and 3-4 PTO belts a year. So far my 782 I've mowed 5 times and I am on my third deck belt and my second PTO belt. I used dads LT1050 Cub to bush hog at my new property. It did great. It's 3-4 years old with original belts. He also has a Craftsman that I have used that is a 1994 with the original deck belt. I wonder if a down shaft engine make a better mower?
