Thanks for the welcoming folks. You guys make a fellow feel right at home.

Duke, Yeah, I'm trying to sort out what I want to do, I already have a garden but want to enlarge it. I really like the restorations on the narrow frames and and older stuff. I could grab a 124 twenty miles from me for $200 right now. That would make a great restoration project but I like the idea of a hydro. I like the 82 series because they look like they are pretty open to engine swaps and a lot of options are available in the restoration area if you aren't a true purist.

That brings me to the newer stuff like the 1811 or 1864. The only question I have about them is the aluminum rear housings compared to the IH cast iron. Looks like the cast iron would be a little better for weight but the aluminum housing has the fine spline axles which I'm guessing would be a little stronger. But what do I know? Lots to mull over.
