I am new to the forum, and new to a Cub Cadet. I have a 1440 which was made in 1992 if I read the chart right. I just bought it a week ago. It was somewhat neglected by the former owner and I am seeking to take care of it. I will change all filters and the plugs. I am wondering about the hydraulic fluid. I will get a new filter for sure. I was thinking it might be good idea to change the fluid, but I don't know. Is that necessary? For all I know it could have been in there for 10 years or more.
Another concern is the break pedal. It doesn't come back up and has to be pulled up with your foot. I am going to get into it to adjust the brake, but just wondering what could cause the pedal to stay down. Should there be a spring to pull it back up? Or do I look for another problem?
The tractor starts great, drives fine, runs fine. Supposedly it just had carb work done and new fuel lines installed (fuel filter looks new to me) and a new voltage regulator.
