Pokey, I didn't weld it completely but I did add several welds to the ones that were there. I couldn't believe the small welds that were from the factory. The welds were essentially just to hold the front plate on and didn't seem to offer any strength to the frame or add rigidity to it. If I had built it I would have made the plate 1/4 inch steel to act as a bumper and to offer a stronger place to add accessories later. I understand the philosophy about making things affordable though and a manufacturer cannot add everything and keep the cost down. Using my new FEL with over three hundred pounds of wet sand in it made me aware that without power steering it would be a bear to operate. I would like to know what the cost to the manufacturer is for a power steering system? A lot of the new cars are using electrical power steering and I wonder if it is adaptable to our mowers from a salvage yard.
