quietline muffler
I was using the tiller for the first time the other day and I rattled my 1650's muffler guts to pieces. There is a chunk flopping around and I think it blocks my exhaust every once in a while because I get some lack of power like it is missing. I see that the vendors have 2 different mufflers for sale. The one like I have that has rolled on end caps and a newer version that has welded end caps and supposed to be 35% quieter. Is one preferable than the other one? The PO fabricated a new front grill out of expanded metal and did a pretty good job. I have seen some Quitelines with the exhaust out the grill and some not. the newer replacement muffler has a longer exhaust tip that I would have to shorten or cut a hole in my grill. What is the advantage to the ehaust going through the grill. I'm guessing it is to reduce eating up the grill. I have a nice ring of soot where my exhaust is hitting it. I have also head references to a muffler crutch. I have seen pics on Kirks custom engines. Does anyone have prints to one so I can fab one up already and have it ready to install with minimum downtime.
