When I did my conversion the ram hitting the tire wasn't even close to being an issue because the ram doesn't move, only the rod moves. The ram does move a little sideways as the wheels are turned to the left but it isn't that close. I also had two holes on the spindle arm which gave me a choice of turning radius. I ended up using the one closest to the wheel for stop to stop turning. I used the front axle from an 1862 and the spindle arm was not integral to the spindle but came off if it needed to be removed which I did several times to get the left/right travel centered. I do not know if an 1862 is a GT or a SGT. Once you get it done you will really enjoy the improvement. It would be interesting to know what PS cost the manufacturers. If it is less than $500/tractor it should be on every model that will use any kind of implement other than a mower deck.
