Same here , when we build or harley engines we break them in like we are going to ride them . If it is a big electra glide ,then we will run it down the highway at differant speeds between 45-80. If it is just a mean nasty bar bike ,then we really woop on it. Has always worked for us. I know there is probably a strict procedure, but I would run at idle for a couple minutes, then at half throttle for a couple more ,then mow the grass with it. After that i would change the oil and if everything looked ( OIL ) and sounded good,I would say it is ready to go.
