Good News!! I got the Cub running today.... after it ran a while it was starting to sound pretty good. I drained and flushed the fuel system (tank, fuel hose, carb., etc.), the best I could before attempting to start it.
The bad news as far as I know now, is: The brakes do not work, also the brake pedal is missing a spring or something as the brake pedal goes down but does not return to the "up" position.. There is one skuff wheel and the entire mounting assembly missing from the mower deck, all the safety guards, and a PTO drive belt are missing from the mower deck, one of the pulley's below the front grill (runs the PTO belt) is damaged and will have to be replaced, the battery is toast, all the fluids & filters, including the transmission will need to be changed, plus every grease fitting on this tractor looks dry. Mowing season here is done for the year, so this will be one of my many "Winter Projects"... When I get ready to start, I'll write a "Build thread", even though there hopefully won't be much "building" to do.
