I have a 451 and my son has a 551 blower. The two are pretty much the same operations wise. The auger is attached to the shaft by a shear pin or bolt. That would be the first place I would check to see if your pin is sheared or partially sheared or possibly the hole in the auger has elongated allowing play. A new bolt or pin can fix the first two. A washer with the proper size hole for the pin and slightly bent to the curvature of the auger shaft and then welded in place will fix the other problem.
