My 2 cents.
I spent a lot of money on parts for my 147 engine, like piston, rod, gaskets etc These were not cheap!
If I just take the machining cost out.
Bore the cylinder .020 over, turn the crank down .010, grind valve seats = $85 for just machining which I thought was very reasonable.
The question about getting another tractor with a good engine is valid from a cost standpoint. My thought is that I know what I have when I am done with the rebuild and I don't know what I have on a used engine. Will never get my money back on the 147 engine, But it runs real good and should last for a long time. Plus I get to have you folks help me along the way too
