Are you running at full-throttle? It will also make a world of a difference if you paint the inside of the chute with graphite paint...I did this to mine and it easily doubled the distance the snow traveled. I can get about 15' if I've got the thrower full.

You may want to double-check the PTO and belt, particularly if you are talking about the thrower itself when you say it 'bogs down and stops'. Or do you mean the engine? Throwing snow is a LOT harder on the PTO clutch than cutting grass. My snowthrower is the only attachment I have that is capable of using all of my 782's 18 hp.
