Yeah Matt I don't think it would work after you mention it. Ya just had to burst my bubble huh!!?? 
I did remove the plugs on the cylinder today and it does appear to be a two way. Both lines go into the one end and the line on the side that looks like a brace is actually a hyd. line to the top of the cylinder.
I need to call a Cub or IH dealer with the number on the cylinder and find out exactly what it is for. Someone else may have a use for it as it was intended. I know an IH dealer back home in Wi. that is pretty good at digging up info like that. I do need to find out the dimensions of that angle cylinder though. With the asking prices online of the original set ups I think it may be cheaper to get one off of something else unless I get lucky and find one lying around locally.
