to check the coil remove the plug wire. unhook the wires in the + & - sides. hook up an ohm meter to the + & - sides of the coil, should be 5 ohms.
I'd be surprised if its the coil. when you cleaned the carb did you remove the brass tube (emulsion tube) that screw's into the bottom of the carb? they have a habit of collecting allot of crap in there.
