I honestly can't believe no one mentioned the most obvious use for these things.... The best, heavy duty, shop trash can you will ever see. We pop the rings off of the top, cut the tops out with a jig saw, and snap the rings back on for a nice finished look. We've been using the same 8 drums for crushed (with a 2" pneumatic cylinder @ 140psi... meaning REALLY crushed) aluminum cans for about 25 years now... Each weighs about 140lbs when full of aluminum and we've never broken one!
I would have taken you up on delivering the Sam Mac Super, but, it is gone now!!

It and the 1872 ended up as part of the deal on this one.

I have one as a trash can (actually two!!) in the shop. I set a bag of bird seed in one, to keep it away from the mice. They JUMPED IN!! They stayed!!
