Not sure if I don't exactly understand just because I don't understand or if I don't understand because I've been working my hind end off for Lord only knows how long and I'm too pooped to think. BUT the rear ends in ALL of the IH built Cub Cadets from the 70 to the 1650 are all the same and the frames (though they do vary slightly) come to about the same place on the rear ends. The only real differences are the fenders, with the 1 piece rear pan style fender on the 1X6/7 series tractors (same with the Wide Frame and Quiet Line series), it does make the tiller appear to set closer to the tractor, but the tiller is the same distance from the rear end and frame on any of the above mentioned tractors. And yes, the 1X6/7, 1X8/9, and Quiet Line series tractor fenders make installing a tiller a bit more unhandy.
I also think that the OS tire diameters vary greatly between brands.
