With my Cub Cadet GT2550 lawn tractor, I was mowing my field today for only 45 minutes (just after I got it back from the dealer for a bad ignition coil), and now the TRANSMISSION won't engage! It JUST GOT a "Silver Service" (lube/oil/filter, sharpen blades, general tuneup, etc.). All I did was stop the tractor for a minute (to clean out the discharge chute from accumulated grass), and now my Cub Cadet GT2550 won't move! My mechanic son checked the rear transmission fluid and fiddled around with the transmission release knob at the back -- nothing.
My "snakebit", problematic Cub Cadet only has 127 hours on it. Of course, it's not under warranty anymore. We pushed it up onto our trailer, since the drive wheels are freewheeling.
Could the problem simply be some electrical switch? The central Shaft Drive is rotating when the engine is running, whether or not I step on the throttle or not. It doesn't make any difference whether my key is turned to the normal position, or the "reverse mowing" position -- the tractor won't move.
SO, I'm hauling it back to the dealer for the 2nd time in a week. Any ideas or recommendations?
