Did a little bird dogging and I found the pin that moves the speed control cam is almost worn through on the bottom side. When the lever is moved forward the cam speed plate rides on the unworn portion of the pin then drops into the worn groove and that is were I'm getting the added speed. Looks like we will be doing a tear down sometime in the near future. Break out the mig welder fill the worn area in and grind back smooth. Should be good for another 30 years.
