I bought a new GT2000 in June 2011. After 6 hours of run time, the PTO belt broke. The dealer did not have the Cub belt in stock and gave me a $15.00 belt until he could get one in. The $15.00 belt now has 95 hours on it and is still running. I installed it myself and I noticed that (during install) the belt twisted slightly in the mule drive. I had a friend help me and it was a PITA to get it straight and running true. I believe the dealer setup had the original belt twisted slightly on the mule drive. It is really hard to detect, you need a flashlight and you have to get very close to inspect the belt. Any slight twist in the belt (on the pulley) will generate a lot of heat and break the belt within a few hours. That is my experience and there are a lot of other possible causes for your problem.
Good Luck
