First of all, there's no such thing as an "ugly" cub. Any of the 14 horse cubs should do about anything you want. Craigslist is a main source anymore and if you don't mind driving you'll find about any cub available. As far as the upper horse cubs you have the previously mentioned 147, 149, and the 1450. There's also the 169 and the 1650 cubs which are a little bit harder to find and have 16 horses under the hood.
Get ready to get bitten by the bug. Once you have a herd started you'll just be looking for the fourth, fifth, and so on.
