Yes, Chevrolet uses a return line. On the trucks anyway. Didn't like that job? LOL, we do it in about 2- 2.5 hrs! Take the bed off, change the pump, put the bed back on....... unless it's full of junk .......... but hey, were getting off topic.
I had an extra elec pump sitting around so it was free. Also the manual pumps are expensive.

As far as the truck goes, I have a shell on the bed so I decided to just pull the tank. Took me 5 hours. I have to say that is the most labor intensive job I've done on a vehicle. Tight up under that bed. I'd do it different next time.
