I guess my response is;
"Why remove it!??"
Heck, if it has protected the metal for this long, let it keep working.
Sure, PC has its problems, but, the negative is poor prep of the metal.
Where it is sticking, it will keep on sticking, IMHO,
Blend the edges, and shoot paint!
