Problem Solved......It was the valve to tappet clearence. Who ever put the engine together installed new intake and exhaust valve but never checked the clearence between the valves and the tappets. I ended up grinding off about .022 off of each valve to get it to the proper spec. After that..SHAZAMM..It ran like a top. Kinda scares me a bit...supposedly this engine was proffesionaly built...makes me wonder what else they didn't check??
