Been a while since I've had a chance to work on the 148R. Had to pull the engine on my other 108 and get it overhauled. Put a spare (newer) K301 back in the 108 (128???) and put the 48 inch deck on it and it cuts like a dream. OK, back to the 148R!

Got some time to fab the grill insert and work on the headlight arrangement.

Not exactly as nice a fab job as I'd prefer, but my metal working skills aren't on par with my woodworking skills...

Slit the headlight surround and slid in a couple pieces of bar stock, then filleted them with some epoxy putty.

The grill is the same bar stock (3/16 by 1 inch) the frame is welded and the interior grill work I decided to braze together. this pic is just to check fit, but before I ground down all the welds and cleaned it up for primer and paint.

Got them both painted but forgot to take a final pic so these are work in progress. Had to cut the panel for headlights, too. got some paint on it in prep for the decal.
