I'd buy it even if it needed a new engine. I bought one last week for $400 with a bad engine although I didn't know how bad the engine was. Just picked up a brand new 16HP Vanguard for it from Northern Tool for $1213.28 delivered to my door. Fired it up just a few minutes ago. The deck from your other cub will fit. As far as I know the 1541 has an under rated Mag18 for an engine.
