I am putting this thing back together and it has been a few months since I have worked on it. Not going back together smoothly and even if I do shim the gear lower, I don't think it is the ultimate solution. Also the brake assembly has a bolt that was stripped out and I'd need to have it coiled. I'm sad to say I might throw in the towel, but only on the transmission, not the tractor. I am just wondering where I can get a replacement one new/used that is in decent shape.
I found this John Deere Peerless that has the cover that looks exactly like the one I have, but I paid under $300 for the mower and to spend $600 on a new tranny is crazy, I might as well scrap it out and buy a brand new one.
