I'm a bit of a oil "enthusiast" so to speak. I use synthetic in many of my automobile engines, and I really like extending oil changes. Don't take this as a bash please, just a bit of information, HD have a outstanding add pack, and HD oils have been tested against synthetic oils (even amsoil) and have won over in oil analysis more times than not.

I'm not sure what oil you are running (amsoil does make a oil with higher ZDDP levels) , but many of the oils (SN, SM) produced today are made for cars with roller rockers etc which does is not as hard on the oil/add pack as the older type engines. Now if you want to run synthetic by all means I do as well even in a small air cooled engine but only used as a cleaning agent, synthetics do a great job of cleaning.

Either way the zinc level doesn't scare me these engines don't have any high loads placed on springs, cams etc..

I will say oil prices sure have gone up the last few years
