Went out in the woods today to trim some tree's getting ready for bow season. Told my son in law on the ground I forgot my safety harness, i'm using a climber. Well I had a first happen and I've been using the climber for roughly fifteen years. The foot portion of my climber came unstrapped from the tree. there I hung by my arms with footrest hanging on my feet. Not good when your twenty feet up. My son in law was going to ride to the house and get a ladder. I said no good. This 53 year old can't hang on that long. The house is 1/2 mile away. I kicked the footrest loose and let it fall to the ground and wrapped my legs around the tree. Had my son in law reattach the footrest to the tree as high as he could reach. I then bounced the seat part of the climber down the tree a few times. I then hung down as far as I could and just reached the footrest.
Back on the ground we packed things up and called it a day. I'm sure my back and arms will feel it tomorrow. Lesson learned no safety harness no climb!
