I just overhauled the carb and found the main needle with a bent tip from some hamfisted PO along with a few crusties and a poorly set float level.

I had visions of the needle tip fracturing as I gently rolled it straight on a surface plate. It's as good as I can measure it, so fingers crossed.

Also cleaned up the ground wires and checked the gen wires as suggested. Grounds were corroded, but the gen wires were fine.

Almost forgot to turn the fuel valve back on just now... That would have driven me insane.

It's a little late now to fire it up, but I'll report back tomorrow with the results of tonight's fiddling.
