I own a 36 inch snow thrower and used it each winter from the mid 70s till I got a super. As long as you use a wide open throttle the old single stage works well but if you do not have a creeper gear on a standard tranny your ground speed may be too fast at that throttle setting. With a hydro you do not have that problem. Once I got my 2084 and a 451 two stage blower that is my go to for snow removal. With full hydro steering is very easy and lifting that behemoth is just a lever. What I like best about both is there is no snow bank at the edge of the drive to make drifts like a blade does.
