Got a package yesterday from partstree.com. Back to the hydro! cleaned things up a bit, replaced seals, gasket and o ring on the charge pump housing. Put on a pair of auto release valves that came off another tractor. It's all back together, clean as a whistle. Well, almost. No issues on reassembly.
On a sadder note, found out that my shop companion of 11 years, Major, has a very large inoperable abdominal tumor plus kidney failure, and we will have to put him down tomorrow. He's had his nose in all of my projects, not to mention my ears, face, hands, etc., as I work on stuff in the shop. He'll be missed. His pal, Schultz (our other (10 year old) GSD) will be quite lonely, I think. We need to decide what to do. We've had 2 or 3 GSDs for nearly 40 years, but as we near retirement, we are undecided as to whether we want to continue with another GSD or perhaps try going dogless for a while. Not sure how that will work. Wife has had GSDs continuously since she was a small child--me only since we got married 37 years ago. Pics of Major last night and in his prime.
