Well, after a couple days away, I reinstalled the front cover and flushed the engine out as mentioned earlier in the thread....going to refill it and try running it again tonight or tomorrow.
Anyway, I came up with I think a 1710 (or a newer 682) with a decent running series II KT17 for a little over $100 today so I have a backup engine just in case. Hopefully I don't need it.
