Football game
It is the final game Of the playoffs, for the national title. Old man Smitty got into the spirit with the help of some Distlled Spirits. A Lot of spirits to the point of only being able to drunkenly mumble "wha happ'nd?" when the crowd stood up and cheered. Someone nearby would explain the play, but After 3 quarters, people got tired of that.
Finally, one of the fans said "listen you drunken old Coot....you wanna know why we cheer, get up and watch."
Smitty sits there quietly for a few plays, then begins randomly clapping in the air around him.
"What are you doing, old man?"
"Killing gnats."
"There's no gnats around here."
"sure is......a LOT of them. Everybody knows ya don't have gnats except around a horse's butt."
