I like the blade just fine. The haban blade is a beast if you've never seen one. I'm a big guy and can lift it but I'm not going to carry it by myself. I have both the blade and a 450 snow blower. Both have their uses. We live in sleet central. Blade moves heavy slush fine. Blowers don't like slush. Like a big mechanical toothpaste tube. When the Snow gets deep you can't beat the blower. Multiple snows are a case of where do you put it with the blade. My 450 will throw the stuff on your front porch from the road. When I say deep my 450 busted a lot of 6' snow drifts in 2010. good luck dealing with that with a blade.
Ideally I'd have 2 supers. One for each. With cabs of course!
As to the remanufactured motor. I've documented the carb issues and fuel in the crankcase blowing the seal. once I got rid of that walbro piece of junk it's been just great. I'm sure the fuel in the oil didn't do the engine any favors. but she runs like a top and starts great winter or summer. (knock on wood)! Part of why I haven't posted much in a while. Nothing really to cover as all is doing what it should for a while now. I do get a puff slight of smoke on cold starts. No big deal as this is an old flathead after all. Uses very little oil. I Haven't checked the meter lately but pretty sure I've got a couple hundred hours at least on it now. Probably more.
These old Supers can be frustrating at times. But when all is well They aim to please. Can't say I ever long for something newer.
Last weekend I broke down and put the chains on. It was getting icy on the hill. Didn't really need them but felt it was safer. That super with cab and blade and filled tires is pretty heavy. Don't relish it sliding down the hill with me in it.
That little fan in the cab is the cat's meow for keeping the windows clear.
If you want a recomendation for front tires for snow work. I'm sold on the v61's. I have to do dumb stuff to get the front end to push at all. Before those tires I steered with the blade not the wheel.
