Not sure why, but sometimes splash from a pressure washer,steam cleaner,etc will get inside and wreck the coil.
If drying out points and wiring doesn't fix it, coil may have failed.
Had that happen on a couple of cotton pickets and a combine many years back when I worked at an IH dealer as the steam clean operator.o
