I like this idea now better than what I got/posted.
I think I even have one of those carriage bolt balls somewhere.
I bet if the adapter plate had the horizontal plate welded on to the "U" lower,
I could use a short stubby ball of a different diameter than the other one.
Then I would not have to flip anything.
